Another Exotic Adventure

I had to completely reconstruct this model's face in order to complete my painting in a way that was pleasing to me. I might have a little tweaking to do yet, but it's come so far! This piece ended up being a collage. The challenge for me is always integrating the collage elements with the painted areas to make a cohesive whole. I think my model is meeting Gauguin for lunch. Maybe he'll choose to include her in one of his paintings, although he might want her dressed in something more floral. I'm not sure metallic gold is his thing. But I definitely feel that I had Gauguin ("Paul"...we're on a first name basis) in my mind's eye when I went in this direction with the painting.
