Back to class!9/20/2013 ![]() It's Fall semester, and I'm back to the drop in sessions I attend where we paint the portrait or the figure. Last week was the beginning of the sessions, and I began this painting of our model wearing this turquoise kimona. It felt great to get back to the painting process, and the joy of spreading acrylic paint on canvas. It is always such a pleasurable process for me. Today was the culmination of the two weeks of work, painting three hours each week. It was definitely presssing for me to complete her face, since I had taken no photos of her last week, photos which typically help me work along on the piece in my studio in between sessions. So today, when I began, that's what I worked on first. It came together really well, and then I had time to spend working with beautiful colors on her clothing and in the negative space. I had a great time reveling in colors I love to work with.
