Figuring on Success

This is a figure from a couple of weeks ago drawn from a gangly older man who was posing that week. After my success with painting negative spaces to enhance the figures I drew in class this week (see below), I returned to some earlier sketches and did the same using liquid acrylics.

I worked on defining negative space in developing my figure drawings yesterday. Although I deepened the value of the gray blue behind the figure, the picture still shows here as faded. This is a piece I was very satisfied with as the morning progressed. It was a day that I felt I would do well sketching the figure. I was ready to focus and immerse myself in the task at hand.
