Hawaii Calls to Me

The model I was painting last weekend in the studio seemed to suggest to me visually that she would be better suited to a spot in Hawaii with lush foliage at her shoulder and a parrot perched on the corner of the patio lounge where she would be seated by me in my painting. So I transformed the studio setting, the draped fabric and cushions she was seated on, added a hibiscus blossom above her ear, and brought in a friendly and willing parrot. All this was done to create my imagined locale for a lovely model.

Since you were telling me about your girl in Hawaii, I wanted to check it out. Love all the colors which blend but also "stand out" from the page. The background leaves look very natural and the parrot is very sweet. I love it.

Karen,
Any chance you would want to sell the Hawaii painting, or would you be making a copy that I could purchase? I guess the painting just reminds me of a few times I have been to the big Island, and I do love the foliage and humidity there.
