Looking Forward to New Mexico9/26/2011 ![]() Ghost Ranch Photo ![]() Georgia O'Keeffe's painting of a similar site. Most people are aware of her large closeups of flowers, but not everyone is familiar with her paintings of The Southwest. ![]() "Heading Out" One of my recent Southwest paintings completed within the last year. Others can be viewed on this website on the page entitled "Southwest Images" (See the site map.) Just waiting impatiently to begin the New Year (the Jewish new year based on the Hebrew calendar) with my highly anticipated painting trip to New Mexico.
Spending several days in Taos NM with side trips along "the High Road", and a day at Ghost Ranch painting the scenery that Georgia O'Keeffe had running in her veins, visiting the Taos Pueblo, the Martinez Hacienda, the St. Frances des Asis Church, and multiple museums containing the early paintings of the original group of Taos Painters should fill me with the Southwest spirit that I am in love with. Then on to Santa Fe and all that it has to offer for the last day of the trip, packed with more delights to savor. Although these are places I have visited before, this will be a painting trip for me. I am readying my equipment at this point, daydreaming, as I do, about the great visions that I'll have the opportunity to paint, and the additional ones I will carry home in my camera to stoke the fires of creative work once I am back. I even plan to scout for some purchased treasures to bring home with me, to relive the total experience of this journey.
