Two Models from Last Week

The model above sat for the figure session last  week. I really enjoy working on dark paper as my ground, because it allows me to pull the model out of the space sculpturally. Guess I'll be making a trip to Utrecht Art Supply (a little plug) to stock up, since my stock contains only pastel values at this point.

Below is the painting I began in my Independent Painters portrait session last week. I spent some evenings this past week fefining it and concentrating on her fleshy features. The colors are my own choices...with my objective of enhancing the lady's pink hat, which she was anxious to be painted in.
