Above are two of my recent portraits done in the drop-in class I attend, with the unguided opportunity to work from a model. The first one is of a model I have painted before, but a different point of view.  I had a photo pulled from a magazine, which was lying on my coffee table. When I glimpsed it there, I decided that would be a good addition to the portrait I was working on. I actually researched images of fans eventually, and decided I would use a different one than my first impulse, and hence this picture came to be. Several elements were incorporated in addition to complete the scenario I developed as I went along seeking resolution for this statement of a woman in red.
